Frantically going around to every university fair, and visiting ever college I could, I started fearing for the worst. Try as I did I could not find a single program that seemed to be the path to the future I envisioned. When I came up to the OCADU information booth, I again found nothing. Though for whatever I asked on "do you have any programs in video game design and development?" There was nothing in the book, and there was no information on it yet, but the woman gave me a flyer and just wrote "Digital Futures." Intrigued I looked for it, and I liked what I found.
The reason I want to get into this program is because from a young age it's been my passion to create, and my dream to bring stories to life. That's my favorite kind of video game; one that invokes the inner workings of the imagination, and captures the hearts of players, using beautiful visuals, realistic sound, a believable world, and a story that keeps you wanting more. At first I wanted to be an illustrator, but the need for a more encompassing experience led me to want to be a mangaka (graphic novelist), and then an animator, but then I felt that in order for me to truly show someone my world, they would have to dive right into the very characters themselves; they had to live the stories through games.
I visited OCADU several times after hearing of the program, and I can honestly say I loved every visit. The staff is helpful and friendly, the building feels so alive with creativity, and the facilities were perfect. I started taking every chance I could just to have an excuse to visit. Of all the schools I visited, OCADU is the only one that made me feel at home and that urge to say "this is it, this is where I want to spend the next four years of my life", and thus is the only school I applied to. As for the reader, I hope to see you soon.
